The President, Executive and members of the Berbice Cricket Board of Control (BCBC) has extended congratulations to Narsingh Deonarine on his recall to the West Indies Team for their tour of England (April/May) and his record breaking performance for Guyana in the ongoing WICB first class season.
The Board in a release said it is proud of the fact that Mr. Deonarine has regained his rightful place in the West Indies Team and is confident he would cement his position on the team by continuing to score lots of runs on the tour.
“Narsingh Deonarine’s record breaking performance this year is due to personal discipline, sheer hard work and dedication. We salute his determination to be successful in spite of our country’s embarrassing performance this year and for keeping the County of Berbice flag flying high along with Davendra Bishu (highest wicket taker for Guyana) Sewnarine Chattergoon, Assad Fudadin, Veersammy Permaul and the Crandon Brothers.”
The releases continued, “Deonarine is a role model to scores of youths in Berbice and his performance has had a positive influence on each of them from the under-15 to under-19 levels. We wish this outstanding young Guyanese batting star the best in the future and we are confident that at the end of his cricketing days he would join the long list of Berbician batting legends like Rohan Kanhai, Basil Butcher, Joe Solomon, Roy Fredericks and Alvin Kallicharran as great batsmen from the Ancient County who have all done Guyana and the west Indies proud.”
The Special Events Committee of the Board would shortly honour Deonarine for his record breaking performance.
