Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) under the internationally renowned Soft Drink Pepsi has renewed its sponsorship of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club under-19 team for another year.
The partnership which now in its 6th year started in 2004 when Pepsi replaced GT&T who opted to sponsor the club’s Anti Drug and Pro Education campaigns.
The package is worth $220,000 with the team set to also receive 30 Pepsi tee shirts. Funds would be used to cover the cost of transportation, umpiring fees, balls, cricket gear and meals.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster at the presentation ceremony which took place yesterday at the Berbice Cricket Board office, hailed the productive and successful relationship between DDL and the entity.
Calling the relationship a producer of positive results, Foster thanked DDL for their continued support and belief in Guyana’s leading youth and sports club.
“The RHT Pepsi under-19 team is the final development stage for the club’s youth players before they move on to the first division level.
This sponsorship has helped us mould the careers of players like Assad Fudadin, Royston Crandon, Damon Vantull, Dominic Ricky, Eon Hooper, Naresh Mahadeo, Abdel Fudadin and Terrence Madramootoo among others.”
Over the years the RHT Pepsi Under 19 team has been very successful on the cricket field while off the feild they have been actively involved in the club’s anti-drugs and pro-education campaign, charity programme, found over 50 jobs for they peers, raised and shared out over &1.2m worth of items over the last 6 years to 25 NGOs and schools under their self development project.
Ms. Alicia Anderson, DDL Sales Manager for Berbice in handing over the sponsorship cheque stated her company’s pleasure in being associated with the RHTY&SC.
“This club’s record of achievement speaks for itself and I would like to congratulate the Rose Hall Town Pepsi team for successfully representing the Pepsi brand on and off the field.”
Anderson made special mention of the player’s self-development programme where they are assisting to make life easier for the less fortunate and asked to uphold the high tradition they have displayed in the past.
DDL and the Pepsi over the years has invested millions of dollars into the RHTYSC and among the other programmes they support are the club’s Annual Magazine, Mothers and Fathers Day Luncheon, Miss Region 6 beauty pageant and the Christmas Charity Programme among others.
The RHT Pepsi under-19 team in 2009 is being led by Eon Hooper with Naresh Mahadeo as his deputy.
