With his exceptional gift for precision shots and near-perfect timing, Bruce Cummings announced his return to the winner’s circle with a sensational victory at the Regent Household and Electronic Store Golf tournament at the Lusignan Golf Club on Saturday.
In only his forth tournament after a prolonged absence, he dug deep into his long family history of golfers to beat a field of over 30 golfers with his nearest challenger a net four strokes behind, Bruce playing off a handicap of 22 scored a gross of 86 for net of 64.
The tournament, which was played under Medal Play Rules, saw Paul Udit scoring a gross of 89 playing with a handicap of 21 netted 68 and Ayube Ali finishing third from a count back with a gross of 91 and a net of 68 playing with a handicap of 28.
Club Captain Jerome Khan won nearest to pin while Cristine Sookram secured the lowest gross with 82.
Khan thanked the sponsors Mr. and Mrs. Hamid of Regent Household and Electronics for their support in ensuring that the sport stays alive especially in these stringent financial times.
This week 11 players will leave for Suriname to participate in the RBTT Invitational tournament slated for this weekend.
Among the stars are Alfred Mentore, M. Mangal, M. Gayadin, B. Hackett, A. Voigt, Chrsitine Sukhram, B. Sukhram, Colin Ming, Ian Gouveia, P. Prashad and B. Glasford. This weekend the Lusignan Golf club will take a break from the usual tournaments and will resume next weekend.
