A nine-year-old girl from Port Kaituma was yesterday air dashed to the city after she received severe burns to the face and neck.
According to hospital sources, no relative accompanied the child when she arrived yesterday morning at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Medical personnel questioned the child as to how she received the burns. A source said that she explained that gasoline was at the root of her problems.
The injured girl is at present in the pediatric surgical ward awaiting more reconstructive surgery to her face. The police have since launched an investigation into the accident.
