MHS wins schools’ title in Linden

– Kanhai named MVP

Akeem Kanhai continued his ascendancy when he led Mackenzie High School to the first National Sports Commission high schools’ basketball championship title at Mackenzie’s Sports Club basketball court in Linden yesterday.
Kanhai scored 21 points with support from Parish Cadogan, who had 11 points to lead his school to a 64–33 points win against nemesis Linden Technical Institute and their star player Orin Rose, who finished with 16 points. Kanhai was voted Most Valuable Player for his performance as Linden Foundation took third place with a 30–19 points win over Christianburg and Wismar Secondary School with Godfrey LaRose top scoring with nine points.
Abu Mohammed had six points for Linden Foundation while Quacy Rice ended with nine points for Christianburg. The competition was the Linden version of the recently held sports commission’s high schools tournament.
