The Upper Corentyne Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCCI) held its annual general meeting on March 15, last, at Riverton Suites, Springlands, Corriverton and elected a new executive body.
The new appointees are: M.B. Dudnauth – (Kumar) – President; Vishnu Doerga -Vice President; Sachie Ramnauth – Secretary; Kamalnauth Dhanai – Treasurer; Celine Davis- Assistant Secretary/Treasurer and seven committee members.
This Chamber is a member of the Association of Regional Chamber of Commerce (ARCC), and its stated objective is to continue the promotion of development in trade and commerce within the region and to work with Government, as well as other agencies in order to protect the Private Sector.
The body has pledged to address a number of urgent issues in the near future.
These include an ambulance service at the Skeldon Hospital; animals on the road and the speed limit for vehicles traversing the Corentyne Public Road.
