The brawl could have been worse had it not been for a passing police patrol unit that intervened.
However, no arrests were immediately made as the students scattered in different directions.

Even teachers at the Carmel Community School could not contain the actions.
When this newspaper arrived on the scene initially, the police were seen talking to a student of the Dolphin Community High School, whose clothing was covered with blood.
The matter appeared to have been settled and everyone dispersed.
However, a few hours later the police were seen emerging from the Dolphin Community High School with a number of schoolboys who they placed into their vehicle, which sped away, much to the amazement of onlookers.
This newspaper understands that students from the Carmel Community High School were also arrested.
