Sand Hills amassed 62 runs in 5.3 overs and lost just one wicket to defeat Low Wood when the two teams met in a 20-over female game at Dora, Demerara River, on Phagwah Day last.
Batting first Low Wood amassed 60 runs in 14.3 overs. In reply Sand Hills lashed 62 runs in just 5.3 overs and conceded just one wicket. Lisa Bowman top scored for the winners with 43 runs, while the other not out batter was Carlitta Allicock (2).
Nedia DeFreitas was the only person from the winning team back in the pavilion. She scored 6 runs.
Later in the day, Sand Hills returned and needed just 13.1 overs to bowl out Dora for 52 runs. They then eclipsed that total in 7.3 overs losing 3 wickets in the process.
DeFreitas walked away with the lion’s share of the prizes having been adjudged best bowler in both games.
In the first she bowled 2.1 overs and took 4 wickets for a miserly 6 runs while in the second game she took 3 wickets in her 3 overs and conceded 9 runs. Bowman emulated her teammate’s feats and won prizes for the best batter in both games. She scored 43 and 30 runs in the first and second game, respectively. She also finished unbeaten in both matches.
