Two days after gunmen killed her eldest son, the mother of slain taxi driver Keith Bowen stepped into a church to attend the wedding of her younger son.
It was reportedly a somber ceremony that was held on Saturday, with only a few of Bowen’s close relatives attending.
“We are in a state of mourning and grief; none of us, except my mother attended,” a sister of the slain man said.
The sister explained that they received the news of the tragedy while they were in the midst of their wedding preparations.
Bowen was to have been the best man and his death had seemed to put the ceremony in doubt.
However, the sister said that the couple decided to go ahead with their wedding plans.
Keith Bowen, who was employed with the Sheriff Taxi Service, was shot behind the right ear and dumped from his car on Thursday night in Sussex Street:
His vehicle was subsequently recovered between Princes Street and High Street.
Kaieteur News understands that persons in the area reported seeing two men emerge from the vehicle.
Relatives said that Bowen’s gold band, gold chain, and gold ring, as well as cash, were missing from the man’s possession.
However investigators said that they are still trying to ascertain whether they are dealing with an execution-style killing or a robbery.
Bowen’s relatives have said that he had no enemies they were aware of.
A manager from Sheriff Taxi Service said that Bowen had informed a dispatcher at around 09:30 hrs that he was heading to Prashad Nagar “on a pick up.”
He said that was the last time that they heard from him.
