Two players making welcome returns after extended injury layoffs, Guyana’s Nicolette Fernandes and Carla Khan of Pakistan both continued to upset the seedings in the women’s event at the Guardian Wealth Management sponsored 36th Swiss Open 2009 Squash tournament being played in Geneva, Switzerland.
Khan came from 2/1 down to oust top seed Italian Manuela Manetta in the quarter-finals, while Fernandes overcame fourth seed Celia Allamargot of France in four games.
Fernandes was down to play Orla Noom of the Netherlands, while Khan’s opponent was Frenchwoman Camille Serme in the semi-finals that was contested late yesterday.
The final will be contested today.
