In tricky winds with angles changing fast between shots, Ransford Goodluck called on all his experience to win another recorded shoot organised by the Guyana National Rifle Association (GNRA) held on Sunday last at the Timehri Rifle Ranges, Yarrowkabra, Linden Soesdyke Highway.
Goodluck, who won the 500 (50-8V’s) and 600 (47-4V’s) yards ranges and was second to Assistant Commissioner Paul Slowe at 300, racked up an overall total of 141 points and 16 V’s with Slowe second overall on 137-7V’s one more V bull than National Captain Mahendra Persaud who also ended on a similar amount of points.
In assessing the conditions, Persaud speaking with Kaieteur Sport noted that the shooters, who are preparing for the National Championships which will be held on April 5th, 11th and 12th and the Caribbean Championships in May, had to be constantly adjusting their “Sights” after almost every shot in order to stay on course. “But generally I think it was another good day for us and I am very pleased with the form being exhibited by Assistant Commissioner Paul Slowe. Some of the other shooters I believe they are trying too hard and needs to be more relaxed.”
It was the first time Persaud disclosed that most of the competitors were using the new brand of ammo but they did well. The final practice shoot is set for March 29th.
