2008 tourney set to kick off on Friday at Tucville Gr.
The title as knock-out kings of the city is at stake when the 2008 Banks Premium Beer Cup knock-out championship gets cracking on Friday at the Tucville ground.
Defending champions Pele will be sternly tested by their city rivals as they seek to retain top honours.
They are returning to the days of being regarded as the knock out kings of the city and will hope to build on their success of winning their first Kashif and Shanghai
Championship. They will also be contesting the Mayor’s Cup final tonight against a team they dispatched on their way to claiming their debut K&S title.
The others teams in line to be known as the best in the city are Sunburst Camptown, Kitty Rangers, Santos, Flamingo, Fruta Conquerors, Thomas United, BK International Western Tigers, Uprising, Georgetown Football Club, Black Pearl, Alpha United, University of Guyana, Guyana Defence Force, Houston Stars and Beacons.
The champion team will receive $300,000 with the losing finalist pocketing $150,000 while $75,000 is set aside for the third placed team and $50,000 for fourth. MVP, highest goal scorer and best goalkeeper will also be rewarded.
