The Banks DIH Xtra white 40 overs cricket competition starts today in Essequibo with three matches.
In zone B, Wakenaam will host Leguan while in zone A Central will travel to North Essequibo and Pomeroon will entertain South Essequibo.
The competition was launched on Friday at the Essequibo Cricket Board hostel in Anna Regina.
Vice President of the E.C.B Fizul Bacchus who collected the sponsorship cheque from Mr. Dass, the manager of Banks DIH Airy Hall branch, said that the board is thankful for the sponsorship and it will go a far in developing the game in the county. Speaking on behalf of Banks DIH, Mr. Dass said the company is pleased to be associated with cricket in Essequibo.
He also thanked the residents of Essequibo for supporting Banks DIH over the years and this is one way the company is giving back to the society. (Zaheer Mohamed)
