Following the robbery which took place at Hotel Tower, which took place on Wednesday night, the management of the hotel has released a press statement saying that, in light of the robbery, it has put things in place to strengthen both its security and the procedures governing entrance to the hotel.
During the robbery, three members of staff of the hotel were accosted and relieved of mobile phones, jewellery and cash.
Investigations have revealed that Housekeeping Manager Gerald Charles, Receptionist Malika Lyken and Electrician Chris Profitt were in the lobby area of the hotel when the men entered and held them at gunpoint.
The men took away a total of $111,000, two cellular phones and a quantity of personal jewellery from the victims before making good their escape.
As the bandits made their getaway, members of the police force were contacted. No one was harmed in the robbery.
In its statement, the management of Hotel Tower expressed its hope that the Guyana Police Force would “investigate this incident expeditiously”.
