Residents of Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara, are calling on the personnel at the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) to repair the water well in their community, as they have been without water for the past three days.
Kaieteur News understands that since the wee hours of Monday morning, the well in the area broke down, and as a result residents have not been getting water.
Most persons expressed their frustration with the authorities in charge, since it was the Phagwah holiday, and they were not able to acquire enough water to celebrate the festive day.
However, this newspaper was told that the well could not be repaired due to the holidays, and as such it was noted that residents would have to wait until the weekend to get back a normal supply of water.
Kaieteur News was told that this is not the first time that the well has malfunctioned, and as such, residents are urging the relevant authorities at GWI to look into their situation with some urgency.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of GWI, Karan Singh has always expressed his dissatisfaction with the continuous wastage of water in the country.
On many occasions, Singh would note that Guyanese are very indisciplined when it comes to water.
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
