CPG arrests murder suspect

The Community Policing Group (CPG) of Block 8, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, arrested murder suspect, Davo Persaud, also known as Davo Simeon or ‘Scale’ of Victoria Road, Plaisance, on Sunday.
The arrest was made as the CPG was doing its routine patrols about the community.
Persaud was jointly charged with Anthony George for the murder of George’s stepfather, Rawle Jacobs, 40. Jacobs was stabbed to death on December 7, last year in Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, while he was having an argument with George.
While the investigations were taking place, Persaud had not been arrested, even though an arrest warrant had been issued for him by the courts.
Following his arrest on Sunday, Persaud yesterday appeared before Magistrate Yohhahnseh Cave at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court and was remanded to prison until March 12, 2009.
And police ranks who were supported by the Golden Grove/ Nabaclis CPG detained a man in Haslington suspected of committing a series of armed robberies and sexual assaults on the East Coast Demerara.
The suspect remains in custody.
