Guyana’s Fullbore shooting captain Mahendra Persaud started off 2009 by winning the Recorded Shoot held on Sunday last at the Timehri Rifle Ranges over the 300, 500 and 600 yards.
Long time rival Ransford Goodluck took second with four V-bulls behind Persaud followed by Claude Duguid in third place.
In slightly overcast conditions and with the wind flickering at times from left to right, Persaud shot 32:0 at 300 yard range and sent down the only possible for the day – 35 with 4 V’s at the 500 range and 33 with 5’s at 600 for a total of 100: 9 V’s.
Goodluck shot 33:1, 34:3 and finished with 33:1 for a total of 100:5 V’s. Duguid had scores of 31:1, 34:3 and 34:2 for a total of 99:6’V’s.
These recorded shoots forms part of preparations for Guyana’s defence of the Caribbean Short Range Championships due to be held from May 10 – 17 at the Twickenham Park Ranges in Trinidad and Tobago.
Guyana will be seeking a hat-trick of titles having won the Short range title for the last two years, 2007 (Guyana) and 2008 in Jamaica.
There are no Long Ranges in the Twin Island Republic hence the emphasis on Short Range shooting at present.
