CLICO (Guyana) was absent from yesterday’s court hearing before Chief Justice Ian Chang to determine the continuation of the judicial ruling for the management of the company.
Last Thursday, Chief Justice Chang granted an order on an application by Commissioner of Insurance Maria van Beek to freeze the assets of CLICO (Guyana) and to place the management of the company under the control of the Commissioner of Insurance.
That matter was returnable yesterday. Senior Counsel Ashton Chase, on behalf of the Commissioner of Insurance, sought leave to file an official response to any challenge to the position of Judicial Manager.
He asked that the matter be returnable within two weeks, by which time he hoped that a representative of CLICO (Guyana) would put in an appearance.
The matter is returnable on March 16.
