The Bartica Cricket Club has organised a 40 over cricket competition which starts this month.
According to Regional Information Officer of Region Seven, Cianna Persaud, this competition is a continuous effort by the committee to further the careers of players and increase the awareness of those in the community of the talent of local players in and around Bartica.
The committee has requested assistance from various business enterprises to help facilitate competitions such as these for the development of cricket in the Region. The proprietors of the Double Platinum Service Station and Platinum Inn, First Avenue, Bartica have sponsored the first competition.
At a small ceremony on February 26 the sponsorship cheque was handed over to the committee in front of Double Platinum Service Station, First Avenue, Bartica.
From this competition players will be selected to represent the region against New Line Cavaliers of Canal # 2 , West Coast Demerara and participate in a Banks 40 over competition in Essequibo this year.
