Design Team Neher, headed by German landscaping expert Hans Neher, yesterday erected a unique rock waterfall, with a statue of the Virgin Mary, on the grounds of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Brickdam.
The structure is made from artificial coral that was imported from the United States.
It will be further enhanced with a waterfall that flows from below the statue’s feet and with special lighting effects.
The project was funded by a church member.
Mr. Neher said that he started construction last December, but was hampered by heavy rains and delays in having material shipped to Guyana.
Mr. Neher is originally from Frankfurt, Germany, but has been living in Guyana for the past 16 years with his wife and other family members.
Their landscaping expertise has helped enhance the Promenade Gardens, Buddy’s International Hotel at Providence, and the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri.
