Former Secretary of the Guyana Cricket Board now Marketing Consultant to the Berbice Cricket Board of Control (BCBC) Bishwa Panday has continued to show solid support for the development of the sport despite relinquishing administrative ties.
Panday, Managing Director of P&P Insurance Brokers on Wednesday made a presentation of trophies to the BCBC and the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) to be used at presentation ceremonies by both organisations.
Panday, who did not seek re-election as President of the Georgetown Cricket Association at their recent Annual General Meeting, in making the presentation said as GCB Secretary he always encouraged that clubs and County Boards should hold presentation ceremonies since it is an excellent way of rewarding persons who do well.
Two trophies each were handed over to the Berbice Board and the RHTY&SC.
“I believe in rewarding people and if I do, I just can’t talk the talk but I have to walk the walk as they say.”
Hilbert Foster representing both entities responded by saying thanks and assured that they will uphold the high standards they have set themselves.
He also informed that while making some rounds in the capital city on Wednesday visiting a number of business places, he was able to secure a scholarship scheme for young cricketers in Berbice.
The company will sponsor four under-13 cricketers up until the under-19 level by making them sports ambassadors of the firm. This deal will be announced shortly.
Another company he said has asked them to put up a proposal on how the sport can be uplifted in the Ancient County.
