Guyana’s first-ever Wedding Expo is slated for over two days from March 28, and not only promises to show couples how to make their wedding day ‘fancy’, but it also promises one couple a dream wedding.
Roraima Airways, which has several businesses in the travel and tourism industry, is behind the expo which is slated for Duke Lodge, Kingston. Duke Lodge was once a key hospitality venue for the Government but was sold to Roraima recently.
Head of Roraima, Group Capt. Gerry Gouveia, told reporters yesterday that too often his company has found that in planning their special occasions many persons run into trouble.
The wedding expo is aimed at cutting out all of the trouble associated with putting on a wedding, whether Hindu, Christian or Muslim.
The expo, of which the theme is “Magnificent Beginning”, promises to bring together leading companies and individuals who can contribute to making a wedding special.
Exhibitors will include car rentals, cake-makers, event planners, venue providers, tour operators, party suppliers, gift shops, dressmakers, boutiques, florists, and even graphic artists to design the perfect wedding invitation.
“This event will connect quality wedding professionals with couples looking for superior products and services,” the Roraima Group stated.
Couples who visit the expo will have a chance to win an all-expenses-paid wedding.
Pamela Dillon, the “royal” lady of pageantry in Guyana, is one of the persons Gouveia has roped in to help make the expo a success. She said that the expo is the perfect place for couples who want to plan a wedding that is different and with “style.”
Dillon noted that the expo is the start of an initiative to also help in the planning of wedding showers, bachelor and bachelorette parties, anniversaries and cotillion balls.
Syris Harvey, also one of the women behind the expo, said that many couples look overseas for solutions to their wedding woes. This expo will showcase the fact that Guyana has everything a couple needs to make their special day memorable.
Minister of Tourism, Manniram Prashad, has endorsed the event and is expected to declare the expo open.
The expo is slated to become an annual event, and will be placed on the national events calendar of the Ministry of Tourism.
