Windsor Castle resident Pradesh Lall, who admitted to stealing a quantity of seine, was jailed for two years by Magistrate Faith McGusty. He was sentenced to a further nine months for attempting to commit a crime.
In both offences Lall entered a guilty plea after the matter was taken summarily.
According to a police report, on January 2, last, at Windsor Castle, Essequibo Coast , Lall, being under the influence of alcohol, entered the premises of businessman Looknauth by removing two boards that were attached to the shop, with the intent to commit an offence.
The court heard that Lall, who is also currently charged with Cevon Romeo with simple larceny, also stole 50 pounds of seine from Looknauth, on New Year’s Day.
He sold the seine which cost $40,000 for $2,500.
When Lall was asked by the magistrate why he attempted to commit a felony he told the court that he was under the influence of alcohol when he broke the storage bond and entered Looknauth’s premises.
According to a police report, Looknauth’s daughter found Lall fast asleep in the shop.
