President of the Justices of Peace Association, Hermon Bholaisingh, has said that the Association intends to meet with the Minister of Housing and Water, Irfaan Ali, to discuss a report of illegal sale of house lots being done in some housing schemes through questionable intervention by some unscrupulous Justices of the Peace.
This was announced at the Association’s statutory meeting that was held recently. Shri Prakash Gossai of the Office of the President was present at the meeting.
In his address to the members, he expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts in revitalizing the Association and making it relevant to the needs of society.
While members should seek to improve themselves professionally, they should strive at all times to promote peace, goodwill and harmony among people, he added.
According to him, one of the ways in which JPs could be beneficial in the communities is by mediating in matters of a minor nature affecting individuals and helping to resolve such matters outside of the police parameters.
He advised that the Association should leave no stone unturned to let the authorities see the wisdom in this initiative.
He announced that he would assist in whatever way possible to help the Association in its struggle.
