It was reported in yesterday’s edition of Kaieteur News (Monday, February 23, 2009) that the captain, Clint Burnett, of the speedboat which collided with a vessel transporting farm produce on the Essequibo River, was drinking prior to the collision.
This newspaper understands that this information was inaccurate.
Burnett was not consuming alcohol. The other three occupants of the boat were consuming alcohol.
