Dear Editor,
I saw the passion in his eyes as he explained his reasons for feeling the need to run 40 miles of the Linden/Soesdyke Highway, in an effort to bring awareness to the plight of young children that are infected and affected by the HIV/AIDS virus.
Some had described his intentions as over-ambitious, or one only attempted by those of unsound mind, but Kayode McKinnon’s determined efforts and accomplishments on the 14th February towards this worthy cause were truly inspiring.
That he also used his influence as a member of the Guyana National Football team (Golden Jaguars) to promote those efforts should stir others of influence into action, so as to help to bring about awareness to the many ills that plague this beautiful land of ours.
In the words of Bishop Randolph George: “We were put on this earth to be of service to each other and to do so in a humble, sincere way, not looking for rewards but to improve the lives of our brothers and sisters”. My good friend Kayode McKinnon has indeed epitomised this statement, and others should too.
