A fine half century by Aaron Tribuwan guided Young Warriors to a comfortable 6-wicket victory over Cullen as the Trophy Stall sponsored Guyana Softball League 15 overs cricket competition continued recently on the Essequibo Coast at Perseverance beach.
Set 135 for victory, Young Warriors achieved the target in 12 overs ending on 136-4. Tribuwan top scored with 63, while Paramlall Raghubansie supported with 26 as Tameshwar Singh took 2-31 for Cullen who had earlier made 134-9 off their allotted 15 overs.
Singh made 43 and Samuel Corbin 23 while Seedesh Deolall and Raghubansie took 2 wickets each for the winners.
In the day’s second match, United Brothers defeated Eldorado by 20 runs. United Brothers batted first and made 167-8 in 15 overs. Gavendra Sharma scored 43 and Gopaul Deen 24, while Emrit Rampersaud took 3-25 and Denesh Singh 2-24.
Eldorado in reply were bowled out for 147 in 14.4 overs. Robin Persaud was their leading run getter with 47 while Navin Persaud chipped in with 22. Jerome Trotman 2-15 and Gopaul Deen 2-39 were the main wicket takers for United Brothers.
In other matches played, Die Hard overcame All Star by 8 wickets. All star took first strike and rattled up 134-7 in 15 overs while Die Hard responded with 135-2 in 11 overs and Golden Fleece got the better of Reliance. No scores were available for that game. (Zaheer Mohamed)
