Dear Editor,
It has been more than 10 months since the GECOM committee conducted their house-to-house registration exercise in an effort to register the citizens of Guyana who are over 14 years of age.
One would have expected by now that registration cards would have been issued to the public, or renewed for those who have one already. When would these cards be issued?
I was asking around, but no one seems to know. For someone like myself, who registered for the first time, I’m anxious to receive the document, especially owing to the fact that I’m a Guyanese by naturalization; and a driver’s licence package, U.G. registration and any other business is extremely difficult to conduct.
Although I have a Guyanese birth registration form, NIS card and a TIN number, the ID card is vital for my identification. Imagine living in a country 95% of your life and still being denied to do business. Great, isn’t it?
D. Charles
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
