Bandits shot a 30-year-old Sophia resident in the head during a brazen, pre-dawn robbery at a Sheriff Street restaurant yesterday.
According to a police report, 30-year-old Terrence Plummer was shot, at around 02:15 hrs, during an armed robbery at the Imperial Chinese Restaurant on Sheriff Street.
He is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Police said that Plummer and two friends, 32-year-old Kalyan Tiwari and Ron Tappin, were at the restaurant when two men, one of whom was armed with a firearm, approached them.
The armed man placed the firearm to Plummer’s head and discharged a round; and after Plummer fell to the ground, the man took away his jewellery.
The gunman’s accomplice then took away a cell phone from Tiwari, and they escaped.
The injured Plummer was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was treated and subsequently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
Up to press time, Plummer, who is a self-employed research technician, was still unconscious.
The man’s mother, Paro Sukhu, said she received a call from her husband, early yesterday morning, informing her that Terrence had been shot.
She said she has not been able to talk to Terrence, since he has been in an unconscious state since the incident.
