GCF to meet on Thursday
President of the Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) Hector Edwards is refuting claims that he had a verbal conversation with Jude Bentley on Saturday at the National Park.
Bentley and the GCF are currently at loggerheads as it relates to the ban imposed on him following a disciplinary hearing for an incident committed in 2006 at the Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Edwards who said that his credibility is being questioned stated that he has not spoken to Bentley for a very long time and is not happy with was reported. “My Integrity is being questioned here and I am not at all happy since as I said before the guy and I never spoke.”
The GCF boss said a number of other persons can verify that at no time at all during the time he spent at the National Park did say anything to Bentley.
On Saturday in support of Bentley, the feature 35-lap race of the National Sports Commission (NSC) sponsored 11-race Mashramani programme did not come off after the riders refused to participate, claiming Bentley should be allowed to compete.
According to reports, this is the first time in the history of the sport that something like this has ever happened.
Meanwhile, the Federation is expected to meet on Thursday to deal with the matter definitively.
