Businessman Alli Mohamed of Canje, Berbice, was shot in the foot on Tuesday night after bandits invaded his liquor restaurant and grocery store.
A police press release said that Mohamed and his assistant, Maneshwar Rampersaud, were about to close the premises when they were confronted by the masked men with handguns.
The bandits relieved their victims of jewellery, phone cards and $185,000.00 cash and escaped after shooting Mohamed to his right foot. The wounded man was treated at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
