Just days after a Lay Pastor was caught trying to smuggle marijuana and cell phones into the Georgetown Prison, a woman was yesterday held trying to smuggle three grams of cannabis hidden in a box of food for her brother into the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court.
The woman’s brother is a remand prisoner on charges of robbery under arms and was in court when his sister tried to smuggle the narcotics in.
According to the police, the woman is in police custody.
In an unrelated case, the police searched a taxi (HB 5921) at a roadblock in Palmyra, Corentyne at approximately 20:00 hours on Monday night.
One kilogram of marijuana was discovered concealed in the vehicle.
Since then, four men have been arrested and are in police custody.
