The family of Charlyn Dickerie, 15, of 35 Goed Fortuin, West Bank Demerara, is frantically searching for their teenaged child, who has been missing since February 3, 2009. The family believes that she has run away from home, following a quarrel she had with her mother.
“She left the same day she was crying about how she had let down the family,” said her brother. He also related that she had left a note instructing her family not to look for her.
Despite this, the runaway girl has been in contact with her family via Short Message System (SMS) using a mobile phone. In her messages to the family, the girl has said that she has been taken hostage, but in the same breath has said that everything is alright.
Meanwhile, the family has contacted the child’s school, Zeeburg Secondary School, but has made little progress in discovering her whereabouts.
Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Charlyn Dickerie is being asked to contact the nearest police station.
