A 52-year-old man was discovered dead on his front steps early yesterday morning by his elderly mother.
Nazim Juman, of 759 South Cummings Lodge, who was a diabetic, is believed to have died from natural causes and succumbed some time Monday night.
According to his elderly mother, “her son was a diabetic who also suffers from high blood pressure”.
The woman explained to Kaieteur News that she last saw her son early Monday morning before leaving to go the hospital (her son lives in next door). She said that upon waking up yesterday morning, she saw what appeared to be a body lying on the front steps.
The woman said she came outside in the front yard to take a closer look at the body. “I come out in de yard to see what really de on de steps”, and that’s when she discovered it was her son Nazim.
She immediately alerted other family members, who went over to the dead man’s home but were cautioned by neighbours not to touch the body.
“De neighbours tell we don’t touch de body just call the police,” the woman explained to this newspaper.
After summoning the ranks at the Turkeyen Police Station, they called the Lyken Funeral Home who removed the body.
“When they moving he (Nazim Juman) de parlour people seh that he didn’t done stiff,” the mother explained.
Other family members who were present opined that he may have fallen down and hit his head on the steps since he was not taking his medication.
This fact was supported by his mother who told Kaieteur News that her son Nazim would refuse to take his medication and this ended up with him been hospitalized twice
. His mother further told Kaieteur News that after her son was hospitalized, he subsequently took his own discharge without even been properly treated. “He jus left de hospital without de doctor treating him,” the woman explained.
Another relative told Kaieteur News that with all the complications that Juman had he was still a “very hard smoker”.
According to Police sources, there were no marks of violence on the body.
The source further told Kaieteur News that from all appearances the man died as a result of a fall.
The man leaves to mourn two children and a reputed wife who all reside overseas.
