Dear Editor,
I am a resident of South Ruimveldt, and I also categorise myself a victim of the negligent practice by the authorities entrusted with monitoring and effectively maintaining our city’s drainage system.
The residents of South Ruimveldt have voiced their concerns and highlighted their plight about the constant flooding to every known authority and to date there has been no improvement of the drainage.
Despite fears of water borne diseases, and insect infestation, residents have no choice but to carry on with their daily lives. For the residents not fortunate enough to own vehicles, there is only one option: traverse and navigate flooded streets walking.
Our voices are many but our cry is one.
Can the relevant authorities please help us combat and eradicate this problem, so that our children can grow up in an environment that is clean and free of parasites and diseases?
Denise David
