The Guyana Revenue Authority has deemed an article which was published in the February 1 Kaieteur News Edition as ‘false and misleading’.
According to a statement issued by the Revenue Authority, the article was captioned “GRA transfers Director, Supervisor for failing to justify assets’.
It was stated in the release that Mr. Colin Moore, the Director, and Mr. Alvin Howard, Supervisor in the Enforcement Section of the company, were never implicated in the Fidelity probe. It has also been stated that the article has caused considerable embarrassment to the reputation of both men.
It was further stated in the release that the current organizational restructuring initiative falls under the Millennium Challenge Account programme and the decision was taken by the Governing Board of the GRA that staff must be rotated periodically. As such the transfer of the officers, GRA says, should not be seen as any sinister move or that they are involved in corrupt practices of any kind.
According to the release, the Commissioner-General, Mr. Khurshid Sattaur is committed to utilising the best human resources in order to develop an effective and efficient functional organisation.
Recently the GRA has been subject to some amount of criticism by certain sections of the media as it relates to the Fidelity issue, the release sated.
