As the West Indies plays England in the Digicel Series 2009, Windies batsman, Ramnaresh Sarwan, shares his thoughts on his personal performance and expectations for the Digicel Series.
Ramnaresh Sarwan:
Hi Everyone,
I am very excited about the 1st Digicel Test of the Digicel Series 2009. I don’t feel I did my best in New Zealand, so this Digicel Test is an opportunity to bounce back and contribute to the team’s success.
I think we have been doing well over the last few months, so now we have to concentrate on being consistent. We’ve been playing really good cricket we just need to continue doing that and improve on our game. I am confident in the squad chosen for the 1st Digicel Test.
Though we haven’t had much time to prepare, we had a good two days (prior o the match). The spirit is very high and we are all feeling positive about this Digicel Series. We are a close team which I think is very important for a good team.
I feel we have an outstanding chance against England; we just need to be consistent as a bowling unit and as a batting unit. Right now we just have to focus on the 1st Digicel Test, we can’t look too far in the future we just have to focus on the immediate task ahead.
I want to thank my fans who have supported me over the years. In terms of experience, I have come a long way in the nearly 10 years of playing with the West Indies. Performance wise, I can definitely improve and I am consistently making efforts to contribute the best way I can for the team.
I think of myself as more of a team player, so while I have a few personal goals, my main goal is that we are successful as a team. I try to adapt to whatever the situation calls for to be a valuable player. I am hoping to have a better Digicel Series this time around.
Happy New Year!
Stay tuned, I and some of the other West Indies cricketers will keep you up to date through our diaries of the Digicel Series 2009.
