– prepares for Pan Caribbean contest
Harpy Eagles Martial Arts Academy dominated the East Coast National Championships on Saturday at Starlite Drive–In where more than fifteen of their athletes topped the traditional and open forms that were contested.
Sensei Troy Bobb told Kaieteur Sport yesterday that the competition included four main clubs: Black Hawks Martial Arts Academy, Great Diamond Karate Club, Sidekick Karate Club and his club, Harpy Eagles Academy.
“We won the overall tournament with about 50 of our athletes competing,” Bobb, who is also a regular feature on the international circuit, said. In addition, the Sensei noted that his club is currently preparing for a major event.
He informed that Black Hawks will host the first ever Pan Caribbean Championships at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in March. He said that he will be hoping to dominate that event as well leaving no stones unturned.
Among the athletes that performed well at Saturday’s event were Lavara Scott, Khadija St Clair, Tamera Austin, Ricardo Thomas, Marvin Thomas, Nicholas Alphonso, Raul Thomas, Adam Campbell and Bano Joseph.
Meanwhile, Sarah Jones, Crystal Emmanuel, Dior Bobb, Troy Bobb jr, Victor Adams, Jamal John, Shaka Inniss and Joshua Ally also helped the club cart off the championships trophy with outstanding performances.
