The Guyanese pair of Travis Blyden and Elton Baker hit half-centuries in useful all-rounder performances for Trinidad club side Rouillac United (RU) last Sunday in the Twin-Island’s national 20/20 cricket competition.
Baker, who plays for GNIC in Guyana and Transport Sports Club (TSC) leg-spinner Blyden, shared five scalps between them as their side defeated Progress Park (PP) by 23 runs.
Baker smashed 62 from 71 balls while the 19-year-old Blyden clobbered 58 from 43 balls in his first match in Trinidad cricket as RU reached 148-8 in 20 overs.
Ronnie Gampul took 5-30 from four overs for PP who were bowled out for 125 in 14.5 overs as Blyden snatched 3-21 and medium pacer Baker took 2-30.
Meanwhile, Guyanese left-hander Krishna Deosarran hit an unbeaten 34 for Caldrac sports Club (CSC) in their rain affected match against Sweet Revenge in the Trinidad and Tobago Carib 50-overs competition last weekend.
Guyanese Kelon Carmichael (36*) and Toralva Scipio (29) could not prevent Sweet Revenge for their third consecutive loss in the competition although Carmichael returned with the ball to take 2-17 from four overs to take the Man-of-the-Match award in a losing effort.
Sweet Revenge were 89-4 with Carmichael well set for a big score when rain sent the players off the field and delayed the resumption by almost two hours.
When play re-stared it was decided that CSC would need to get 90 to win from 22 overs. They reached 90-5 from 19.3 overs with Deosarran leading the fight. Scipio supported Carmichael with 2-23 from four overs.
