A Stabroek Market vendor could no longer contain his anger yesterday after being teased for as long as he could remember by his victim.
Around 16:50 hours, fish vendor Gavin Mc Bean was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) with several chop wounds about his body.
Reports are that Mc Bean was chopped by a man whom he would tease on a daily basis. According to persons who rushed the wounded man to the hospital, Mc Bean, for no apparent reason, would tease his assailant.
However, yesterday seemed to have been the straw that broke the camel’s back.
This newspaper was told that Mc Bean’s assailant was going about his work in the market as usual when Mc Bean began teasing the man, who is said to be in his late 40s. Persons said the man then drew a cutlass which was nearby and began chopping at Mc Bean, who was subsequently rescued by persons in the market. The injured man was rushed to the GPHC where up to press time he was still being treated.
Persons also managed to subdue Mc Bean’s assailant and he was subsequently handed over to police at the Brickdam Station. Investigations are ongoing.
