…woman injured
A two-vehicle collision yesterday afternoon at Providence, East Bank Demerara has left one woman hospitalised after one of the vehicles slammed into her.
According to reports, the incident occurred at around 18:00hrs in front of the Guyoil Gas Station, and involved a minibus and a pick-up.
This newspaper understands that the bus, GGG 4915, was heading towards the city and was about to turn into the gas station when the pick-up, GKK 858, crashed into it causing it to spin out of control and hit the woman, who was standing on the pavement.
Reports state that the pick-up was speeding.
The injured woman was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where her condition was said to be stable. Police are investigating the accident.
Some 20 minutes after the incident, the woman’s daughter, in a fit of hysteria, rushed to the scene questioning everybody about her mother’s condition and whereabouts.
Upon being told that her mother was at the hospital, she demanded that a bus stop and take her to the hospital.
