Two National Communications Network (NCN) staffers were detained by police on Tuesday evening after a quantity of jewelry belonging to two senior newsroom staffers went missing.
Kaieteur News understands that sports anchor, Jaydon Samuels, and a cameraman spent a night in the Brickdam lockups as the police conducted investigations into the alleged theft. They were released yesterday morning.
Reports are that last Thursday, Moore removed his jewelry which included finger rings, before anchoring the nightly newscast.
He reportedly left them on the anchor’s desk on completion of his task.
On going to retrieve the items from the studio a while later, he found them missing and raised the alarm.
Reports are that Samuels was detained for questioning since he occupied the anchor’s desk directly after Moore.
Then on Tuesday, Moore’s co- anchor, Delecia Fletcher, reported that someone had stolen her earrings and diamond necklace from her handbag.
The police was called in and the two staffers were detained.
It is not clear why the cameraman was held by the police.
In recent months a number of staff members have reported losing personal items including money.
When contacted, Editor in Chief of the newsroom Michael Gordon refused to comment on the issue.
