West Indies captain Chris Gayle has recently topped the one-day batting averages while his teammate, Shivnarine Chanderpaul has emulated this feat in tests. While these individual achievements are bound to make all West Indians proud, they will not overshadow the sad state of affairs within the team structure.
Undoubtedly this issue as well as others will take precedence for discussion at the West Indies Cricket Board Director’s meeting that got underway at the Buddies Hotel, Providence EBD yesterday morning.
Kaieteur News sought to engage President of the West Indies Cricket Board, (WICB) Julian Hunte, in a discussion on the issues on the agenda. He said that the WICB would host a special media workshop tomorrow morning at 09:00hrs to brief the media on decisions and resolutions arising out of the meeting.
However, he did hint that his executives would be examining the reports coming in from the cricket development and finance committees. Hunte further disclosed that WICB executives would be examining proposals for the pro league as well as all other matters relating to West Indies cricket.
Several past cricketers as well as representatives from all of the cricket boards in the region attended the meeting.
