By Franklin Wilson
Hardware Giants, Farfan and Mendes (F&M) yesterday renewed their long standing partnership with Guyana’s Leading Sports Club, the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC), of Area ‘H’ Rose Hall Corentyne, Berbice.
F&M Marketing Officer Delon Josiah disclosed that the company has been supporting the RHTY&SC under-15 cricket team for the past 13 years and to date they can only commend the club for the way they have progressed and for the efficient manner in which they have been conducting their business.
“As a company we would like to thank the club for allowing us to be a part of their success and we will continue to be a part of them. We would also like to thank Mr. Foster for leading the youths in the Rose Hall area in the right way and for making them realise, the importance of education.”
Josiah said Farfan and Mendes, is looking forward to continued collaboration with the RHTY&SC in 2009.
CEO/Secretary of RHTY&SC Hilbert Foster in his presentation prior to the handing over of the 2009 cheque, highlighted that the success on the cricket field has been as a result of their ability to mould the players from a young age in discipline, dedication and to have a strong faith in themselves and the God they serve.
Foster, who has been spearheading the success of the club ever since its formation, attributes their firm foundation on which their success has been built, to the long standing partnership with Farfan and Mendes now in its 13th year.
It’s a relationship he said that began in 1997 and to date the company has invested close to 2 million dollars.
Over the time of the sponsorship, the club has produced 10 national and 17 Berbice players along with numerous cricket championships.
Some of the notable players coming to the fore are the Crandon brothers, Esuan and Royston, Assad and Abdel Fudadin, Delbert Hicks and Dominic Ricky.
“The club management cherishes its relationship with F&M and we salute the company on its continued status as one of Guyana’s leading business entities. The relationship between us is not just about the U-15 sponsorship as the company also sponsors our annual award ceremony, cricket academy, youth review magazine, Christmas charity programme and anti-drugs campaign.”
F&M’s Chairperson Ms. June Mendes is also the Patron for the RHTY&SC. Foster disclosed that the sponsorship will be used to purchase gear, assist with transportation and snacks for the team during the year.
Shawn Pereira has been appointed team captain for 2009 with Neil Pike as his deputy. Keith Hicks will serve as manager and Renwick Batson, coach.
Foster reassured F&M that their partnership is well cherished by the club and extended special thanks to Ms. Mendes, son Andrew, the Marketing staff, Amanda Richards and Onai Vasconcellos for their continued support which has helped shaped the club into being the best in Guyana.
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
