Police on Monday evening found the partly decomposed remains of a 72-year-old man in his Bel Air Park home.
Reports are that Fr Malcolm Rodrigues found his cousin, Compton Rodrigues, lying between his bed and bedroom wall some time around 19:30hours on Monday.
Fr Malcolm Rodrigues had gone to his cousin’s home, which is located at 167 Eping Avenue, and called out to Compton Rodrigues but got no response.
According to a police source Father Rodrigues, after getting a pungent smell from the house, went to the Kitty Police Station and made a report.
Police ranks then accompanied Father Rodrigues back to the house and were forced to break the front door to gain entry. Inside they found the dead man already in an advanced state of decomposition. The man was found in a middle bedroom in the top flat of the two-storeyed building.
Neighbours said that the last time Compton was seen alive was almost one week ago. Police have since ruled out foul play since there was no sign of forced entry to the house and nothing has been reported missing.
