The National Schools Chess Championship will be played this weekend at the Queens College Auditorium, Camp Road.
The Championship will be conducted in two categories in a Swiss system format. The strong junior players, who have been participating in tournaments during the year, will be placed in Category A, while the other players will form Category B.
The tournament is expected to have participants from schools in Corentyne, Linden, West Bank Demerara, East Coast Demerara, East Bank Demerara and Georgetown. Four games will be played tomorrow and five games on Sunday, making it a nine round Swiss system competition.
All schools participating are asked to bring along their chess sets and all participants must dress in their respective school uniforms. Registration starts at 9:00am sharp and the first pawn is set to move at 10:00 am.

The tournament will be conducted by the Guyana Chess Federation and is being sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
