A 30-year-old Guyanese man, Dillon Bevon Williams, who has been living in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) for approximately three years, was charged with having sex with a girl under the age of 16.
It is alleged that Williams, who is employed in BVI as a mason, had sex with the girl before she turned 16, and impregnated her. At present, the girl is 16 years old.
According to reports, Williams invited the girl, who had reportedly been friends with him, to his home, at around April 11, 2008. Upon arriving at the young man’s house, she was invited into the man’s bedroom.
Once in the room, it is alleged, Williams began to kiss the girl and remove both his clothing and the girl’s clothing.
The girl apparently put up some resistance, but reports have said that she was unsuccessful, as Williams apparently managed to have sex with her.
Suspicions were aroused when the girl’s parents noticed that she was not menstruating, and they took her to the doctor on November 28, only to discover that she was eight months pregnant. When questioned, the girl apparently related to her parents what had happened with Williams.
A report was made and the man was arrested. He reportedly told the police that he did not have sex with the girl. He contended that he tried to but held back from doing so.
Meanwhile, the prosecution told the court that Williams has not agreed to have a sperm test. The magistrate set the preliminary inquiry for February 12, 2009.
