Following weeks of rivalry, the sifting out process in the inaugural Guinness ‘Greatest of De Street’ Football tournament is nearing an end.
A total of 32 street teams started out with the same aim, that of reaching the final but many of them have proven they are not made of what it takes to stake a claim for the top prize of $200,000.
So far the best eight teams have made it and they will face off in the quarter-finals this evening at the national Cultural centre Tarmac with the respective winners booking their semi-final places. Globe Yard opposes Alexander Village in the first game from 19:45hrs.
East La Penitence match skills with East Front Road at 20:30hrs, Leopold Street come up against Hope Street Tiger Bay at 21:15hrs with the feature match between Albouystown and North Last entrance at 22:00hrs. The respective winners will advance to the semi-finals.
