Dear Editor,
The end-of-year rains are here again, with the usual uncertainty and fear of floods. However, I feel a bit more comfortable this year after witnessing the effective work of the Ministry of Agriculture’s Drainage Department.
I live on the East Coast, and my yard would normally flood with the slightest of rain. Earlier this year, I had approached the ministry and, with some persistence, got the canal cleaned, which is now benefiting my entire community.
Over the past several days, we have witnessed heavy rainfall, and I am pleased to say the works undertaken a few months back have proven to be very effective in draining the area.
As such, I would like to take this opportunity to express the gratitude of my community for a job well done. We can now enjoy the holidays without worrying whenever it rains.
