Detectives have released two of the three women detained in the wake of the murder of 41-year-old Vieo Persaud, who was bludgeoned to death last Friday at his lot 29 Meten-Meer- Zorg, West Coast Demerara home.
But they have since detained a man and a 15-year-old boy for the murder.
Kaieteur News understands that the teen is from Zeeburg, West Coast Demerara. The other suspect, known as ‘Bull Dog’, is said to be a close friend of the victim.
According to reports, the teen was arrested after he was identified as one of the youths who residents saw at a Chinese restaurant near Persaud’s home on the night of the murder.
Kaieteur News was told that police are also trying to locate some other young men from the neighbourhood.
Persaud, also called ‘Sunil’, was found dead on Friday morning by one of his friends who was having a few ‘drinks’ with him on Thursday night.
From all appearances, he was bludgeoned to death with a hammer, since his forehead bore two gaping wounds and was also bashed in.
Police have still not located the murder weapon.
The friend, called ‘Shireen’, had told Kaieteur News that Sunil invited her and two other friends, known as ‘Melrose’ and ‘Yonnette’, to his house on Thursday night to have some ‘drinks’, since Persaud had returned from Suriname on Wednesday.
She said that after it was getting late, she headed for home, leaving Sunil with the two other friends.
According to the woman, she returned to Sunil’s house early Friday morning, and found the gate and his door open.
She said that she entered the yard and peered through the window and saw her friend lying in a pool of blood next to his front door, which was ajar.
Kaieteur News understands that one of the three women who police had arrested told investigators that five boys came to meet Sunil on Thursday night, but only one of them entered the house and spoke with him, while the others waited on the road.
The police have since recovered a pair of slippers, some clothing and a number of beer bottles from the house, which they also dusted for fingerprints.
